2019 Agenda Highlights

A senior-level speaking faculty, exciting new topics and exclusive networking opportunities made the 2019 edition of the Outsourcing in Clinical Trials West Coast conference our most successful edition yet.

This year’s conference kicked off with Opening Remarks delivered by the conference chairperson, Bruno Gagnon of Bridge Bio, which led into an opening panel discussion on best practices for measuring the health of your vendor partnerships to fix issues early. Patti Whitman, Radhika Sivaramakrishna and Darren Hart discussed the best KPIs to use to hold both internal and external teams accountable and debated what the critical milestones are in a study to ensure you are taking stock of vendor performance regularly.

After the plenary morning sessions, the audience split into three different tracks: Outsourcing & Operations, Clinical Technology & Innovation, Early Phase Clinical Development.

Program highlights on the technology track included Ravi Kiron’s (Head, BioPharma External Innovation, EMD Serono) discussion on the use of AI in drug development and the Opening Day 2 panel on new players entering the healthcare space in which Lesley Stolz from JLabs was joined by Debiprasad Roy from Allogene Therapeutics, Martin Culjat of Dthera Sciences and Jordan Glenn who is VP Clinical Development atNeurotrack.

A standout session on the early phase track was Elise Brownell’s (EVP Operations and Project Management, Amarantus Bioscience Holdings) workshop on “Revealing the investment checklist: What investors look for during their due diligence”.

This year’s Outsourcing and Operations track benefitted from our brand new conference app which delegates could use to submit questions, comments and vote in polls during the sessions. One session in particular which got the audience talking was the think-tank hosted by Laurin Vincent from Genentech and Sameena Sharif. The think-tank challenged the audience to develop a new outsourcing model for the industry to encourage agility and innovation in clinical trials.

We look forward to more engaging and collaborative sessions in 2020. If you have an idea for the program or would like to be involved next year, then please get in touch with the program director.
