We know that spending in the food-to-go, fast and casual dining market is increasing steadily and is expected to top £52 billion by the end of the year. Since 2008 the eating out market has risen 7% in the UK and 64% of the under 24 market eat out at least once a week. The trend towards higher spending on dining has been maintained post-Brexit with like for like sales rising 1.8% This rise in growth is encouraging and shows there is increased spending on eating out; what retailers need to do now is spend on targeted marketing and loyalty to ensure they win market share.
