Highlights of 2018

This year’s event was highly topical with many presentations covering the future of clinical supplies in a way which gave the audience actionable takeaways which could serve as a platform to grow their business.

  1. Developing a Just-in-Time labelling strategy for your global clinical trials to minimize costs and prevent trial delays! – Michael Stephenson, Associate Director, Clinical Supply Chain Technology and Innovation and, Ignacio Gomez-Arroyo Bernabeu, Senior Associate Engineer, Clinical Supply Chain Technology and Innovation, Janssen showcased their latest developments in Just-in-Time labelling technology. In their presentation Ignacio and Michael assessed the effectiveness of Just-in-Time labelling in improving flexibility to maximise accuracy of your clinical trials while evaluating ways through which expiry dates can be managed without the need for booklet labels
  2. Maximising forecasting tools available to sponsors to ensure your trials are accurately planned and disruptions can be handled with minimal impact – Thomas Thoma, Head Clinical Trial Supply Europe, Teva highlighted the need for the industry to work closer together to ensure suppliers and trial sponsors are better aligned. Thomas also explored which responsive forecasting systems are available which can best react to fluctuations in the supply chain and enable you to act in real time.
  3. Outlining ways to develop your current distribution strategy to meet the evolving challenges for Pharma – Alex Robertson, Senior Director, Supply Chain Management, AstraZeneca, who chaired the technology stream at this year’s conference, explored evolving challenges for the industry that impact distribution and strategies to meet temperature control requirements & opportunities to improve environmental impact. Furthermore, Alex also discussed ways to optimise distribution by reviewing impacts of technology on distribution strategy and presenting distribution channels and depot strategy
