How could artificial intelligence transform government?

Throughout this article, I will be exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) could transform government. I will also be touching on benefits of artificial intelligence within governments.  Artificial intelligence is a collection of cutting-edge technologies that lets computers sense, understand, act and learn more about humans.

It was stated in a report that around 250,000 public sectors workers could lose their jobs to robots over the next 15 years.  So how can AI transform Government? Well, Artificial Intelligence is supposed to have the potential to complete much of the valuable work currently undertaken by humans, specifically routine work where humans make assessments within seconds.

Artificial Intelligence is about making better decisions and automating those decisions. It’s also about improving public services.

Listed below are ways in which Artificial Intelligence Programs can organise and improve both the outcomes of government to seek and achieve the way in which they make policies.

1)      Predictive Analytics – This is Predictions which allow governments to implement preventive and targeted policies.

2)      Detection – The goal is to automate and detect individual data records or patterns such as relationships between a model of hospital care and health outcome within massive and complex databases in order to identify those that are abnormal or unusual.

3)      Computer Vision – Allows for the collection, handling and inspection of any digital image data from various sources, for example, areal imaging, digital video and satellite.

Governments around the globe have recently acknowledged the potential for Artificial Intelligence, Japan and Singapore are currently in pole position of marrying intention and action to harness the power of AI.  It’s been reported that Japan’s prime minister realises Artificial Intelligence as a vital tool to improve the country’s current economy. Singapore has been reported to view Artificial Intelligence as an essential part of its plan to become a smart nation.

To learn more about artificial intelligence within government, attend this year’s Government Computing 2018 conference.  Our conference will discuss the latest challenges and opportunities in the public sector technology. We will be bringing together IT leaders from across central and local government to examine how the sector can meet the twin challenges of ever-present budget cuts and greater demands on services.  Register today & Quite MK-BPS
