Interactive Panel Discussions and Roundtables

In 2016, Clinical Operations in Oncology Trials East Coast conference enabled delegates to effectively network and collaborate with industry peers to discover the latest operational strategies to ensure their oncology trials remain time and cost-effective.

Day 1 of the conference ended with an interactive panel discussion on Discussing the key attributes required to ensure your trial is attractive to patients. During the session, the participants (Michael Myers of Syndax Pharmaceuticals, Gary Conboy of Vertex and Gordon Jamieson from Translational Therapeutics) investigated the topic in-depth with the audience. Firstly, the panel considered challenges for specific patient populations in order to tailor recruitment strategies and then moved on to discuss how to improve the appeal of your trial for individual patients by implementing some key strategies which would meet their needs. They examined effective approaches to increasing your patient enrolment rate through patient-centric trials and debated how best to hear the patient’s perspective in order to fully appreciate their position. There were some thought-provoking questions from the audience, including whether patient-centricity should be expanded to take into consideration the patient’s wider family circle.

The interactive theme continued on Day 2 with a range of roundtable sessions for delegates to attend. These sessions offered delegates the unique opportunity to sit down with their peers and discuss in-depth a variety of current operational challenges, share experiences and to brainstorm solutions. Topics included analyzing the benefits and pitfalls of adaptive trials while considering regulatory guidelines and establishing key initiatives to ensure an effective sponsor/vendor partnership flourishes.
