Is social media your patient recruitment buddy?

Since the birth of the World Wide Web, interaction between humans has altered significantly. The introduction of social media and smart phones has elevated connectivity even further. This 24/7 portal has enabled us to be online wherever we desire.

Its impact has sparked interest from healthcare professionals, utilising it as a channel to reach those in need. For example, social media giant Facebook, has detailed targeting capabilities which can refine audiences to your specific requirements. Whether it is interest groups or geo-targeting, the extent which it offers is what every trial is looking for.

Rewriting the engagement rules, companies such as Clara Health and Seeker Health are utilising social media to modify the patient recruitment process.

Although the vast targeting capabilities can be a tremendous advantage, there are a number of shortfalls which shadow. One of which is the differentiation in reported health information and medical records. Surprises may occur when official information is encountered.
