Live CMO Interview

This year’s meeting offered delegates the unique opportunity to sit in on a live on-stage interview with Martin Huber, Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at Tesaro. The audience was particularly keen to hear from Dr. Huber due to the recent data released that showed that Tesaro’s product “niraparib” slowed ovarian cancer.

In the interview, Dr. Huber was quizzed by the Chair, Gordon Jamieson of Translation Therapeutics, on what operational steps should be taken in drug development from concept to delivery. He highlighted common pitfalls in the trial design process and gave the audience advice on how to steer away from these. From this, he debated what key stakeholders should be involved in the trial design process to avoid pitfalls and gave insights regarding his own lessons learned from his own experiences of trial design. With the audience, he investigated the key operational steps you need to be aware of when developing drug development timelines from concept to delivery.

The focus of the interview then widened to consider what lessons the industry as a whole needs to learn about the operational steps of the drug development process to see improvement in this space. Dr. Huber then gave some insights into what his future predictions are for the industry and how biopharma as a whole can strive towards operational excellence in oncology trials.
