Thomas Kraubitz co-leads BuroHappold Cities in Europe. Based in Berlin his focus is on resilient urban environments and large-scale sustainability concepts. He consults governmental, national- and international organizations as well as the private industry. He is a licensed architect, urban and regional planner and worked with Ken Yeang, Ma Quingyun, Stefan Behnisch and Jan Gehl prior to joining BuroHappold. Thomas studied architecture in Germany, Urban Planning at Tongji University and the MIT. He also obtained a Masters’ degree with Distinction from Harvard University – graduating best of class. He received numerous recognitions including Fulbright, InWent, Mercator and BMW Foundation scholarships. Thomas frequently teaches at universities and conferences worldwide on the future of Cities, such as the 2017 World Expo Astana and COP 23, with a particular interest on sustaining urban fabrics and resilience. He currently teaches on Smart Buildings and Cities at the HfT Stuttgart and at the TU Berlin in El Gouna, Egypt on Industrial Development. He is also a co-initiator of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and involved in further developing the scheme. He also leads the Sustainability team being responsible for the highest rated Green Building and District and first WELL projects in Germany. He is a DGNB Senior Auditor, LEED GA, WELL PT Agent and BREEAM DE Auditor
