Filippo Menolascina is a Professor at the University of Edinburgh and the Director of Research at the Bayes Centre, the University’s Innovation Hub for Artificial Intelligence. An Electrical Engineer and Computer Scientist by training (BSc ’06, MSc ’08), Prof Menolascina pioneered the field of “cybergenetics”, the application of intelligent control algorithms to biological systems. Prof. Menolascina, a serial entrepreneur and VC executive, obtained his MBA in 2020 from the University of Edinburgh and currently serves as Managing Director of Noumena Capital, an AI-first Private Equity research firm that develops innovative Machine Learning foundation models to identify and screen prospective investments.
