This year’s conference promises to be our most exciting to date, with presentations from some of the industry’s top leading experts in the field of supply chain management and technological innovation. The following are a sample of what you will find in Milan in March:
Peter Christensen, Director Clinical Supplies Project Planning, Novo Nordisk
will be showcasing what Novo Nordisk is doing in its attempt to build an innovative IT solution for planning your clinical trial supply chain. The session will showcase ways to harness digital systems during your manufacturing process to minimise human mistakes while exploiting digital tools to forecast inventories for numerous studies in one go. At the same time Peter will showcase ways to designing lean end-to-end planning systems to reduce wasted drug supply and what new temperature control systems are available to ensure a fast handling of deviations to prevent impact on your trial.
Francesco Spoto, IRT Manager and Kovid Jolly, Lead Business Integration Manager at Novartis will be presenting a case-study which will seek to unpack whether blockchain’s time come? Is blockchain a buzzword or an actionable tool for disrupting operations? In this novel presentation Francesco and Kovid showcase how blockchain can be implemented within your current supply chain strategy while reviewing which components of your clinical supply chain can benefits from blockchain. The aim of the session is to consider the benefits blockchain could bring; improving traceability, accountability and compliance while determining potential costs savings which the blockchain can offer sponsors.
Niklas Mattsson, Lead Comparator Sourcing and Planning at MSD will showcase different sourcing models to guarantee you have the correct comparators for your clinical trial. Given the importance of these in any clinical trial it is vital that comparators can be acquired and distributed quickly and efficiently. Niklas will highlight which sourcing models are currently available for industry while reviewing the benefits and drawbacks from each and how these can be incorporated within your sourcing strategy. The aim of the session will be to enable sponsors to discuss how integrating these models can offer better results than adopting one over another and therefore determining why a hybrid sourcing model makes sense from a business perspective.
